Construction projects
We are constantly striving to improve the living environments of our animals based on the latest scientific findings, as well as our visitor experience. Since this is an ongoing process, our construction work is never complete, and there is always at least one workman carrying out improvements somewhere in the Zoo. Our major construction projects are detailed below.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW ORANGUTAN HOUSE
At a total projected cost of € 22 million, this is the largest project in our history – and the most urgent as well. Find out all the details on our top project here.
Construktion of the NEW WALK-IN FLAMINGO AVIARY
Between March and November 2020, a new walk-in enclosure for our red flamingos, scarlet ibises and roseate spoonbills was built at the former water bird pond, creating as natural a habitat as possible for these birds.
